Siemens West Chicago, Illinois, has
completed the upgrade of the plant to begin production of photovoltaic
inverters. Siemens has invested about $ 10 million to the two plants into this
upgrade, which one will be used to support the rapid growth of the U.S. solar
power market.
Currently, Siemens
is located in West Chicago is producing SINVERT PVS PV inverter for the
American Southwest 20ME use solar power plants. Early 2011, Siemens has made
this multi-million dollar contract. Under the agreement, Siemens will be
delivered in October this year before all products.
Siemens Energy and Automation Division Raj
Batra, vice president of AMD, said: "For Siemens, today is a proud day,
because we are located in West Chicago plant will continue to maintain its
leading position in the solar industry, and further as the new U.S. energy
markets efficient products we manufacture in the United States has gradually
inverter will this work by the blue-collar jobs to green collar shift. "
Siemens West Chicago plant consists of two
plants constitute an area of 200,000 square
feet, 350 employees. In addition to the production of photovoltaic inverters,
Siemens also manufactures motor control centers, motor starters, switchboards
and control cabinets. Siemens on the plant was renovated, modernized
operations, adopted a number of recommendations of employees, increase
productivity and efficiency.
Siemens control and system engineering
business unit vice president Dale Langston said: "Since the 1950s, Siemens
began committed to the development of solar energy. Now through local
manufacturing plants and a broad product portfolio to give customers a better
service."
Siemens solar PV inverters in the process
of playing a very important role. Through the inverter solar array can generate
direct current into alternating current into the grid after. West
Chicago factory capable of producing 500MW of photovoltaic micro grid tie inverter. In the United
States , the solar industry is one of the
fastest growing industries in 2010 with annual sales of more than 6 billion
U.S. dollars, the national PV capacity reached 2.6GW.
