Japan successfully developed the world's smallest PV inverters

Kyodo News, Japan's New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) 6 announced by industry, government, academia, the formation of joint technology research organization, "the next generation of power electronics research and development institutions," has successfully developed the world's smallest inverter. Compared with the general micro grid tie inverter  its size is only about twenty fifth, reduced to about 500 cubic centimeters. The outcome is expected to be applied to future electric cars and railways.

The inverter is a DC power into AC power apparatus, since the rotation of the motor efficiency can be improved, and thus commonly used in the field of home appliances, and the access procedure of the solar DC power generated in the AC power lines, or the off grid inverter is also not missing devices.

The development of inverters silicon carbon compound material as a semiconductor element, instead of conventional silicon. Power conversion efficiency has been improved, in order to achieve miniaturization. Experiment, the inverter output power continuously driven the success of up to 15 kW motor, equivalent to more than 15 times the power of home air conditioning.
